Questions:
Career outside cricket: Biologist
Describe first exposure and experience with cricket: I remember those ubiquitous hollow yellow plastic stumps and bats showing up in Phys. Ed. class once or twice in elementary school. But I didn't really start learning how to play cricket until I was 16. I spent a number of days one summer watching one of my older brothers play cricket in the provincial summer games, and thought it looked like some fun. So, I started playing with my high school co-ed team the next spring, and then with the local women's team, Wicket Maidens, soon thereafter. It's been pretty near impossible to step away from cricket ever since.
Personal highlight/favourite memory from playing for Canada: The very fact that I am a woman playing cricket at all in Canada, let alone for Canada, has certainly made a great conversation starter many a time. But, without a doubt, the thing I'll remember most for years to come about playing cricket for Canada, is my team mates. It is the culmination of all the memories of training camps, tough games, gruelling workouts, and everything in between that is my favourite memory from playing for Canada. |
