ICC Announces Schedule for T20 Cricket World Cup Qualifier
Canada has drawn the Netherlands in the opener of the 2010 T20 Cricket World Cup in the UAE. The match will take place at Dubai Sports City on February 9, 2010 at 1330 local time. Canada's second match will be the following morning aginst Kenya before closing out the first round on February 11 against hosts UAE. The super 4 round will be played entirely on February 12th with the finals slated for February 13th. Two venues will be used for the event, the Dubai International stadium at Dubai Sports City as well as the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

ICC Announces 2011 CWC Schedule
Including Sri Lanka in its training plans may pay dividends for Canada in the 2011 Cricket World Cup as the Island nation is set to host 2 of Canada's 6 first round matches. Canada successfully used Sri Lanka as a training base earlier this year ahead of the 2009 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in South Africa in which they earned a place in the 2011 event.
Canada will play 2 games in Sri Lanka and 4 games in India during the tournament which kicks off Saturday February 19th with co-hosts India and Bangladesh clashing in Mirpur. Hosts Sri Lanka will take on Canada on Sunday February 20th to kick of the tournament for both sides at Hambantota.

A total of 13 venues will be used over the 43-day tournament, which is a week shorter than the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies. The ten Full Member countries and four Associates have been divided into two groups of seven each, with the top four from each group qualifying for the quarter-finals. Group A includes Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Canada and Kenya. Group B comprises India, South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland and the Netherlands.

After completing a whirlwind season where he excelled in T&DCA's elite division and made his debut for Canada in Europe, Shaheed Keshvani heads to Sri Lanka on a winter training assignment ahead of a busy 2010 cricket calendar.

ICC Announces Major Tounament Groupings
The International Cricket Council has confirmed groupings for the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup as well as the 2010 T20 Cricket World Cup Qualification Tournament.
The 2010 T20 Cricket World Cup Qualifier which is to be held February 9-13 at Dubai Sports City will feature the top 6 Associate nations as well as hosts UAE and wildcard entrants USA. Canada has been placed in group B with the Netherlands, Kenya and the UAE. Group A consists of Ireland, Scotland, Afghanistan and the USA. The top 2 from each group progress to the semi-finals with the winners moving onto the finals. The two finalists will gain entry into the 2010 T20 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies. The winner of the event joins South Africa and India in Group C of the main event while the runner up joins host West Indies and England in Group D. The T20 Cricket World Cup runs from April 30 to May 16th.
The 2011 Cricket World Cup Groups have also been announced with Canada drawing into Group A. Canada will play matches against Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Kenya. The top four teams in each group progress to the super eight stages.
"...we are looking forward to taking on some of the worlds best in Group A. Being familiar with some of the teams in the group already will give us added confidence at the World Cup when we take the field..." said coach Pubudu Dassanayake when the groups were announced. "...Canada has in the past 2 years played against all but Australia which will make for interesting competition at the World Cup. Dassanayake continued "...we have a good side and we back ourselves against any opposition"
The 2011 Cricket World Cup scheduled will be announced by the ICC on November 9, 2009.
Canada's positioning in the u19 Cricket World Cup has also been confirmed with Canada drawing into group C with hosts New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe. Group C will be based out of Christchurch. The 2010 U19 Cricket World Cup begins on January 16, 2010 in New Zealand.
