Canada versus Netherlands InterContinental Cup --- Le Canada tombe aux Pays Bas dans le match de la coupe intercontinentale
Canada's batsmen shone on day three of this I-Cup game. Skipper Qaiser Ali carried his overnight score of 76 to 176 in two big partnerships with Don Maxwell and Umar Bhatti. When the innings was done Canada had set the Netherlands a target of 185 to win. The Netherlands reached this target for the loss of three wickets. The batting performance today restored some respectability to the contest. Canada ultimately paid the price of their poor batting on the first day of the match. They now await the I-Cup final in 2007. ---

3rd ODI - Canada defeats Bermuda --- 3?me ODI - Le Canada d?fait Les Bermudes
Canada wins again! Canada beat Bermuda by 3 wickets with 10.2 overs to spare. The pitch today seemed to favour the bowlers, with only one batsman in both innings passing 50. The best performance by a Canadian bowler was from the Captain George Codrington who took 4 for 33 in 10 overs. Henry Osende made the initial breakthrough, and took 3 for 22 in 6 overs. A pleasing aspect of the bowling performance was the fact that only 13 extras were conceded. In contrast Bermuda allowed 30 extras when Canada batted. The team eagerly awaits the contest against the Netherlands tommorrow.

Changes to Squad in South Africa
Canada has had to make some changes to the squad currently in South Africa. George Codrington and Abdul Samad will be returning home after the last ODI game on the 1st December versus the Netherlands. George has a business opportunity that he has asked the CCA to allow him to particpate in.Permission to do this has been granted. Abdul has a family matter that he must return to attend to. There is at least one player with and injury in the squad. This would leave the squad short of players to compete in the I-Cup match. The CCA have therefore decided to send a replacement player in order to bring the squad up to playing strenght for the I-Cup game against the Netherlands. All rounder Steve Welsh has been selected by the National selectors. He leaves tonight to join the squad in Pretoria. He arrives in SA on the 1st and will have 3 days to settle in to local conditons before the I-Cup game. The I-Cup team will be captained by Qaiser Ali with Sunil Dhaniram as the Vice Captain.

Canada versus Bermuda
Canada played well today to beat Bermuda in the 2nd ODI of the current Tri Series in South Africa. The recent attendees at the HPP Training camp in Pretoria had another good day. Bagai and Dhaniram batted well to secure the win and Dhaniram bowled well and took two wickets. The only disturbing factor is the amount of extras bowled by Canada.

Ladies and Gentlemen - Friends: It is my privilege to present this morning the 104th Annual Report of the CCA. The CCA can pride itself on being one of the oldest sporting organizations in Canada. At time the CCA was incorporated - in 1892 - those were the glory days of cricket in Canada. Then Cricket was the national sport, although I have been challenged at times that lacrosse was national sport.

TUKS made the required runs in 48 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. This game served as a good warm up game prior to the 4 scheduled ODI games against Bermuda and the Nehterlands. CCA Umpires and Scorers Panel to be formed
The CCA is continuing its efforts to strenghten and develop it's technical people.? We are embarking on a process to identify a panel of elite umpires and scorers for national games, and a pool for further training and development and assesment to higher levels internationally. Interested umpires and scorers that feel that they are the best qualified to make this panel are asked to submit a resume, and a short review of their last year of umpiring or scoring to their provincial association.? A committee has been set up to review the applicants and develop a short list. From this list an assessment will be conducted in the fall, when we will select about 10-12 to the panel. These names, of course will not include the ICC Americas panel of Elite and "A" umpires. We are also identifying and developing Umpiring and Scoring Course Conducters to run clinics in each province. If there is anyone who is already doing so, or who is interested to become one, we would like his name and contact information.? All these individuals MUST be santioned by the CCA to run umpiring or scoring clinics for Canadian certification. And lastly, if there is anyone with qualification from other countries, that would like to have a Canadian certificate, our committee will review their qualification, and if deserving will fast track them to a Canadian Certificate. The deadline for receiving the names is October 31, 2006.

Canada was due to play 3 matches at the ICC Under 15 Americas Championships in Fort Lauderdale, but Tropical Storm Ernesto reduced the tournament to a one day 20/20 knockout format, more so for the kids to get out and have a game, rather than a competition. In the first game USA beat Canada, and Bermuda beat the Americas 11. Then, due to bad weather again, the second game was further reduced to 15 overs. USA beat Bermuda for the gold, and Canada beat Americas for the bronze.

Canada crushed by Cayman Islands
Cayman Islands won the toss and sent Canada in to bat, where they have struggled batting first this season. The decision paid off, as Canada had lost 5 early wickets, including all of the top five batsmen in the order, for only 46 runs. Canada staged a huge recovery thanks to George Codrington (73 not out) finishing 187 all out (T. Taylor 4/19, R. Ebanks 4/43). The pitch seemed to favour the Islanders, as they cruised to reach the target with the loss of only 2 wickets, Cayman Islands 188/2 from 42.2 overs (S.Gordon 70, S.Welsh 1/31)

Canada struggles against Zimbabwe in Trinidad
A nervous start from the seamers saw Zimbabwe get a steady start, but the introduction of the spinners and in particular the left armers saw the run rate slow and wickets tumble. In the field, Canada were tidy and did well. However, when batting it was a poor display with both bad shot selection and run outs contributing to far too many dismissals. In general, Canada showed some encouraging signs, but the outcome must be seen as a missed opportunity to beat a top side.
